More blog pruning advice
on March 12th, 2007 - UncategorizedAdd comments
I’ve posted about pruning my blog reading several times. Today I thinned out almost 40 blogs that gave only partial feeds. Not clicking through, sorry. Bye.
But I just found what I think is my best, most common-sense yet, approach to pruning blogs:
I deleted the blog feeds of everyone who “thinks like I do”. Why? Because I probably have the least to learn from them. I’ve kept the blogs of people that piss me off - people I think are completely wrong. People I would probably hate to have dinner with. THOSE are the people that make me question my own beliefs and assumptions. Those blogs that think like I do just don’t make me think.

I only read 33 blogs and still manage to keep up. Crazy.

Chris - I don’t really read that many blogs. Most of them I just scan for something interesting. I probably read about 60 a day. of the remainder I may actually be reading one of four of their posts.

I still am amazed that Scoble hasn’t gone nuts reading all the blogs that he does. I get info overload from the little content that I subscribe to, for him it must be insane.

Are you SURE he hasn’t gone nuts? Heh.
And Chris - put your blog URL on your comments (if you want) - I find a LOT of readers follow comments back to my commenter’s blogs!

Glad to learn you are still reading my blog then!
As mentioned before (somewhere): I only read three blogs.
Yours, Deannie’s and (hey, SOMEONE got to do it) my own. And even THOSE already cost me a lot of time (and that’s NOT Deannie’s or my fault!)
