I worked at home on Friday - something I did every day for 3 years until about a month ago.

I am used to working at home, and Friday started no different than a usual work at home day - I went to my home office, set things up for my new Mac, and went to work.  I had two conference calls in the morning so the morning went quickly.  At about 11am I had an idea that I needed to talk to someone about.  But I was at home.

At about 12:30 I wanted to go grab someone to go to lunch with me - but I was at home.

Suddenly I realized that I missed not being in the office.  That was surprising, considering how much I loved working at home.

I’ll still work at home now and then - because there are just some things I can’t do at the office (generally anything that involves a contiguous amount of concentration time).  But I do enjoy the immediacy of the office.

I just didn’t think I would ever miss it :)

I have added a disclosure policy page.

Read it and enjoy the goodness :)

DSC00068Yoshi and I didn’t do much today - we pretty much just laid around and chilled out.

Yoshi got into his favorite chair and got his pillow set up just right.  And slept - for most of the day.

I didn’t sleep, but I didn’t do much work either - yesterday was spent mowing the front yard and doing other household chores.

Too bad there isn’t any NFL Football on TV yet - that would have made this a perfect Sunday :)

Many people have recently commented that although I seem to have disappeared into a black hole, whenever I come out, I seem happy.

I AM happy :)

I am loving Mosso - the people are pretty amazing and I have a lot to learn. I love learning!

I am also adjusting to working in an office again - it has been a LONG time (close to 7 years, I think) since I routinely went into an office for a full day (and to me a full day is 8 hours - not 9, or 12!)

And when someone wants to have a 1:1 conversation at Mosso that usually means taking a stroll along the River Walk. Our offices are located right on the river, which is nice. But there are a lot of stairs, which my bum ankle and bad back are having trouble adjusting to. I am sure in the long run that I will be better off for all of the exercise - but for now, it is just a lot of pain!

The people I have met make me want to walk through the pain and wake when it is still dark. I never realized how much I missed working with bright people - especially bright, young people.

And I write this post using my new MacBook Pro, which is really a wonderful piece of engineering.

I will miss Windows Live Writer (the best blog publishing tool I ever used by far) - but I will adjust.

I turned 47 today.  So far today I have worked 16 hours in my new position at Mosso and it hasn’t really felt like work - it feels more like getting paid to learn!

Yes, I am loving what I am doing even as I neglect my community on Twitter, neglect my blog, fail to answer personal emails, neglect business partners, etc.  I expect I need another week before I get my footing.  So sorry for neglecting you.

That is why is pleases me so much to get all the comments, instant messages, Tweets, voicemail’s and writings on my Facebook “Wall” - all with birthday greetings - and all from people that understand why I am busy, and why I haven’t responded directly to any of them.

But rest assured - you made my birthday a special day, and each IM and “Wall posting”, every voicemail and Tweet made me smile - and I thank you for it.  Collectively here, and individually when we next meet :)

But really - thanks - it means a lot to me!

I *did* have a very “Happy Birthday”.
